Weymouth - Early 1900s

Bathing Machines

This is a wonderful picture of the Bathing Machines taken sometime in the early 1900s.

Unfortunately the scan does not do justice to the detail visible in the original.

Such a pity that only one of these machines was to survive.

There appear to be a Yacht Race in progress further out in the Bay.

Low tide gives us a clear picture of why Weymouth became so popular as a safe bathing beach for children.
