The
Beach opposite Belvedere and Victoria Terraces.
The gentleman in the white shorts is, I believe, Tony Bugler, whose
family ran the Kellys site on the Beach.
I was one of many local lads who would help Tony and his brother carry
the boats up and down the beach and later when older would stand at
the top of the steps trying to persuade folk to take a boat or canoe
out.
They were beautiful wooden boats and were stored in the winter at
a warehouse just off Charles Street.
