Weymouth -The Jubilee
Clock
circa 1915

I feel that this photograph was taken just prior to the First World War. There is a gentility about the manner of the people, expressed in the gents raising their hats to each other and the group of young men with their boaters, waistcoats and watch chains. One wonders how many of these young men were to survive to 1919. The stalls on the beach have a few customers and a horse drawn carriage is perhaps on its way to Upwey or Radipole. |
