This is another glorious reminder of the popularity of 'The Traditional English Seaside Holiday' in the early 1950s. The Tide is almost at its highest point causing several people to relocate their deck chairs. We can assume that from the number of overcoats and size of the waves that there might be a an onshore breeze keeping the temperatures low. The pontoons for the motor boat trips around Portland Harbour are visible in front of the Pier Bandstand. |
